Personally for my plans to get to the event -- my healing from surgery two weeks ago tomorrow hasn't been as quick as I had hoped and expected. I kinda knew I was cutting the time to heal a little short, but I couldn't get surgery scheduled faster or delay it any longer. If I was smart -- I wouldn't be going, but this is my favorite event, and I'm not so smart.

Making this trip all the harder is that Dallas won't be making this race -- so I need to do all of the driving of the big rig, setting up the pits, and strapping down the car my self (hoping I can get help from a skinny guy getting the car on and off the trailer).

Deb and Hope (she's already asking how fast I can get her into drag racing a door car, and has claimed dibs on the Vitamin C) will be coming along. While I use to make the 900 miles in Franklin, KY as the halfway stopping point when motorhoming to the Squawk's stomping grounds in Western, New York -- I need to break this down into smaller segments. We'll leave at about 11 AM on Tuesday and maybe drive to the Little Rock area. Then drive to around Franklin the second day -- and arrive at the track around lunch time Thursday.

The Vitamin C is still down. If Dallas (he's standing up in a close friend's wedding) was coming to help, I'd most likely bring the Whale. However, since that car has only been out once -- I'd just assume have some help in case I have a few wrinkles in it. So I'll be bringing the black Coronet that Dallas has been running, and hope I can get it to run C/FX. This ought to be interesting as it has a lot more cage to climb through than my other cars -- and I ain't climbing so well right now.

I plan to run the Whale at Milan and Indy to iron out any wrinkles before making it my main NMCA Points car in 2012.

I'll do my best to post updates from my vantage point between the time we leave and the time we return. I'm hoping others will also pitch in with Event updates.

Attn. All Racers: When you arrive at BG after you pay at the gate NMCA team members with bring to the NSS parking area. From there they will hand you off to me and I will park you. Im am getting there early to mark off spots. I have spots saved for big rigs. If you have someone you want to park next to let me know and we will make it happen.

        Thanks, Doug

If anyone wants to follow the race live over the Internet --

          http://www.1320go.com/nmca/livetiming.php

The above link will give the live timing. You can enter the car number or class and have the computer page you when called to the line. Non-members can review all of the run timeslips for the day -- and members get to look into the history.

For those with smart phones -- there's actually an application for your phone where you can be watching the timeslips while sitting in the staging lanes and get an idea if racers are running too slow or breaking out.

Dave I was hoping you would not say anything about "that". I been watching if for the last week. Not getting any better, if we can keep it dry should be a lot cooler than tomorrow. I'm going anyway.

I can deal with a 30% chance of scattered showers and 90 degrees, alot better than the 100+ temps we've had here tha past few weeks (most days). That's not the worst part.....120 degree indexes..... Been miserable, and I don't work hard for a living, I just have to spend a couple of hours a day in it (and not all at one time!).

Rained every day at the Hot Rod Reunion, still had some great racing!

Looking forward to a few days off!

Only 30% chance of rain forecast for Saturday. I've never seen and accurate forecast five days out, and that's most likely the best NMCA forecast regrading rain in 2 years. That link will show a different forecast every day.

I'm more concerned with the temperature. Cars are going to be running slow.

I'm not worried about the heat making the car run too slow. I think the Malibu can make it. What I'm worried about, is my old, fat, out of shape, rear, sitting in the staging lanes for an hour or two! Can you say heat stroke?!?!?!?! I'm planning on lots of A/C, naps, water and Gatoraide!

This evening, I did get the trailer and RV hooked together and the fridge plugged in and getting cool.

I'm hoping the black Coronet can run FX with my butt in it -- in this heat.

I'll bring the light clothing is case it can't.

All is loaded up, fridge is on and loaded, beer in the cooler, coach and trailer is washed, 300 galls on diesel in the tanks -- and we'll pull late morning and try to get as far as Memphis tomorrow.

Hey Doug, If you could find a way to get us and Sanders parked together that would be cool. I think they will be there Thursday night and we will be there early Friday.

                          See ya all this weekend!
                          Can't wait!
