Last Saturday, July 25th we had a fun race at Chandler, In. This is the forth year that this track has hosted a NSS race. Saturday 24 NSS cars showed up even though it had rained in the morning and the forecast called for a 40% chance of rain all day.
The format is a little different at this race. Although the cars have to be NSS legal we race on a .500 pro tree and dial in with no indexes. Chandler is an 1/8 mile track. There is two qualifying passes to make a ladder. The ladder is set up based on ET.
Bill White was the #1 qualifier with a 6.003 in the 1/8 mile. First round was at 6 o'clock with some great racing. First round runner ups have the option to have a gamblers race with a $25 buy-in. 9 cars entered this race. After first round all racers, crew and family were treated to a good BBQ dinner.
Second round came at about 8 o'clock and soon after that the rains came and ended the event. 6 NSS racers were left and split the $2300 purse receiving $383 each. Even though we got rained out the event was a big success. The racers had a great time and the track had the largest spectator crowd they have had in 6 years.
Next year this event will be even bigger.
Thanks, Doug Duell
